7 Minute Sprint

This past weekend when I was at the dotMom conference I attended a breakout session on family management.  One of the little jewels I took from it was the "7 Minute Sprint".  Here's what it is.  Every night you set a timer for 7 minutes and you race around the house picking up stuff.  We have been doing our 7 minute sprint every night since Saturday.  So, far it's working!  The living room is staying picked up and so is the playroom.  And guess what?  You can get a lot done in 7 minutes.

Meal Plan- Sept. 26

So, I'm back with a meal plan.  Sometime I need to get the blog caught up on how this life of trying to get organized is going.  The first two weeks of school have been crazy, so there's been no time for anything.  The house has taken a backseat, but I have been able to get lunches made the night before and I'm doing really good with "Maximizing my Mornings".  I've been up at 5am everyday since school started.  I am starting to love these quiet mornings. Soccer has started for my 3yo, so I guess I'm officially a soccer mom (even though I haven't been to a practice or a game yet).  I had a great time the last two days at the dotMom conference.  It was a time of refreshing and being in the company of only grown-ups! On to the meal plan.  Here's what we're eating this week.

Monday- Salmon with Lime Butter (in the crockpot!)
Tuesday- Spaghetti
Wednesday- Hamburgers and Hot Dogs at church
Thursday- Chicken Stew with Rosemary and Lemon (I don't remember where I got the recipe from, but if I do remember I'll post the link)
Friday- Dinner out or leftovers
Saturday- I'll be gone for a girls night out, so it'll probably be frozen pizza for everyone else.

Menu Plan- Sept. 12

It's a new week and time for a new menu.  I have discovered a great meal planning website.  It is My Recipes.  This site has it all; recipes, menu's, shopping lists, and a recipe box where you can file it all away.  It is fantastic.  Here's the link: My Recipes.  Go check it out.  And here's what we're eating this week.  Both of the recipes I'm posting links to this week are from My Recipes.

Monday- Easy Slow Cooker Jambalaya
Tuesday- Teriyaki Pork and Vegetables with Noodles
Wednesday- Dinner at church (I think it said in our church bulletin that it was spaghetti this week)
Thursday- Leftovers
Friday- Backyard cookout with hot dogs and smore's and I may do a pot of chili too.
Saturday- Not sure yet!

Why Bother?

Today is Thursday. Monday we cleaned the playroom and picked up the rest of the house. I vaccumed and steam cleaned the carpets. And 3 days later, this is what it looks like. So frustrating! Can anyone else out there relate?

The Garage- After

This is what we accomplished today. So much better, but we still have a lot to do. That was just one side of the garage. AM woke up from her nap so that pretty much ended our work for the day.

Homemade Cream of Mushroom Soup and Menu Plan- Sept. 4

There are so many recipes that call for cream soups, that I tried to make my own. To start with, I just don't like any kind of soup out of a can. And the cream soups are just so thick and gross looking. I found this recipe for homemade cream of mushroom soup at A Year of Slow Cooking. We'll see how it does in my recipes.

This week I am crock pot cooking most of the week.

Sunday- leftovers from the previous week

Monday- Logan's Roadhouse

Tuesday- Cod with onion and tomatoes (cooked in foil in the crock pot.) This will be a new recipe, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Wednesday- Wednesday night dinner at church

Thursday- Creamy Italian Chicken

Friday- Mexican at our favorite restaurant.

Saturday- Leftovers

I made black bean soup in the crock pot overnight, so that will be lunch this week.
